Actually, I don’t really only play this riff with downstrokes. I also use a Drop D 6 String Guitar for this.
But for this riff we just stay on the standard tuning and always pick everything from top to bottom to make it sound harder. 🙂

By the way, this riff comes from my band “ Atomic Symphony „ first album in the song“ Lost Eden „relatively at the beginning, right after the intro.
